We hired a company (out of Ft. Worth) days ago to expedite the visa process for us. The whole visa ordeal has been a mess but we were told by this company that we would receive our visas by FedEx on either Saturday or Monday (today). We did not receive our visas today.
Bruce has spent the last few hours on the phone with different sources to find that our visas, that originated at the Houston Consulate, were never taken to FedEx. FedEx has no record of us having a package from this company.
This means that:
- Our courier service, who is reputable, may have let us down.
- Our visas are either at the Houston Consulate OR the company located in Ft. Worth or their Houston office.
- Since we have International flights, we had to gain permission from Continental Airlines to fly from Lubbock to Houston without our visas/passports. We gained favor and are allowed to do this. We will not be able to leave Houston for Bogota until those documents are in our hands.
- 8AM we find the visas...call the company we hired and the Houston Consolate.
- 10:45 we fly from Lubbock to Houston, in hopes that our visas/passports are in Houston. If they are in Houston, we have about 2 hours to have them delivered to us.
Our prayer is that our visas/passports are in Houston and we can get them, in hand, by 2:00PM!! We must have them for our flight from Houston to Bogota at 3:45. We need a miracle...yes, another one!
If for some reason we don't make the 3:45 flight tomorrow to Bogota, we can try to get on another flight the following day (Tuesday) at midnight....arriving to Medellin around 4AM...rushing after little or no sleep and then meet Abi. This sounds horrible to me but whatever it takes at this point.
If we don't make our appointment date, July 15th at 11AM, given by ICBF, they will reschedule us for August. If we go in August, it's unlikely that our kids will be apart of this full journey since school will be in session.
Lot's of "ifs"...in need of a BIG God!
We are trusting the Lord and know He is able. If we don't answer your calls, it's because we are on overload. We are out of words. Feel free to respond via email or leave a message for us.
love, Ruth
