We went to The Community of Faith Church this morning upon Dr. Torres referral. It is a spirit-filled church FULL of people that love the Lord. When we walked in, they had Kari Jobe's CD playing in Spanish. We LOVED that and it gave us a quick connection. The church was packed and it was their second service for today. They also have a Saturday night service. We did as Pastor Andrew McMillan said to do and let the usher know who we were upon our arrival. They eventually took us to a room where the pastor was resting in between services. They had fruit out and cookies with juice. None of us needed any snacks as we had just had breakfast BUT baby girl SAW food so she HAD to eat. She's such a good eater! After a short conversation and introduction we went into worship. They sang many of the same songs but while they are loudly singing in Spanish, it was hard to remember the English words. Josh and I tried very hard and figured out two of the many songs. Worship was lively and wonderful. It was especially moving to see many of the men in this church genuinely worshipping God. I've been told and have observed that some (most) Colombian men are "macho." These men were dancing and singing unto the Lord. They had smiles that covered their faces. They had the sweet love of Jesus in their eyes.
Abigail Valeria slept through all of the (extremely loud) worship and part of the sermon. After worship a beautiful, Colombian woman, named Vanessa, came over to interpret for me. She was so precious! Pastor Andrew spoke on loving others through the eyes of Jesus. It was a good sermon. Lillia and her daughter, Sofia cam with us to church. I believe they are Catholic but they wanted to come along. I thought it was neat that the sermon was on God's love shining through us because I believe this is what they love about us. They know something is different. Believe me, at this point, any love or beauty being seen HAS to be Jesus. We are too tired to have much to offer except that which He is giving us. I believe they enjoyed themselves.
We came home and ordered lunch and ate with them on the patio. It was very nice. Lillia is always willing to help with Abigail Valeria. She took her at the end of church when we were waiting to say goodbye to the Pastor. She bought her a snack and fed it to her. She just loves her. I told her this morning how glad I was that she came to church and that I was going to miss her when we left to return home. We both had tears in our eyes.
The kids swam for just a bit today. I had a short nap as did Bruce (I believe). Bella has her ipod on with earphones in and she's been dancing and praising Jesus. The boys and Abi just left for Carulla to get dinner and some more snacks. We are eating like there's no tomorrow. I think we are exhausted and bored. I know I'm losing weight but thought it was because I rarely stop and I'm exhausted from Abi's sleep patterns.
Sweet girl is getting worse in the area of sleeping. She is NOT sweet when she gets tired. She lets us know she's tired by grabbing her hair and I've also learned that she takes two naps each day...morning and afternoon. However, when we put her down, she yells and cries. She holds her breath for a few seconds to gather the deepest and most fierce yell/cry and then lets it out...BAM!!! We try to comfort her but she will not be comforted. There is truly nothing wrong that we can see. She's fed, clean, etc. I believe that she MIGHT sleep IF we held and rocked her through her nap time or bed time but that's not going to happen.
Nora, our attorney, just called a few minutes ago and asked how we are doing. I told her all was well except for Abi's sleep patterns and fits. She asked if I was tired. I almost started to cry. I'm beyond tired. She then offered to call the social worker to ask her to get in touch with foster mother, in order to find specific answers to Abi's sleeping problems. I don't believe she had any sleeping problems while in foster care but she certainly does with us.
Your ongoing prayers are appreciated.
love, Ruth

Sounds like another full day. I hope Abi has turned a corner with her sleep "issues". Love the pictures of all 3 children. The smiles are priceless! I was listening to Kari Jobe's CD this morning, too. What a coincidence. :o) Also, you will have to listen to Rance's message from church this morning. He started out talking about different cultures...and then taught about how the kingdom of God is basically God's "culture"...way of doing things, etc. It was new revelation for me. Can't wait to see you all again. Love you.
